Solar Charge Controller

          What is Charge Controller?

          •      The main purpose of a controller is to prevent the batteries from over charging.

          •      Another purpose of the controller is to charge the batteries at the correct voltage level.
          •      The terms “charge controller” refer to either a stand alone device, or to control circuitry
                 integrated within a battery pack or battery powered device.

          PWM- Pulse Width Modulation

          •      Use to regulate charge.
          •      PWM mainly drop the voltage coming from the panel to charge the battery.

          •      The voltage drop equates to the loss in wattage, in case of PWM causing 75-80% efficiency.


          •      Drop voltage not in use.
          •      Efficiency limited to 75-80%.

          Need Arise for following types of charge controller:

          •      That can utilize the drop voltage.
          •      More efficient up to 95%.

          Appropriate Solution is MPPT Technology:
          •      MPPT stands for Maximum Power Point Tracking.

          •      Steps down the high input voltage to match the battery bank voltage to charge it correct.
          •      Recovers the voltage drop via boost current which increases the amperage to makeup  for

                 the lost voltage.
          •      Ensure Efficiency upto 95-99%.

          •      MPPT is fully controlled by both software and hardware.
